Meet Alyssa – our Member of the Month for July!

We are so excited to bring you our next edition of our Member of the Month series, where we feature some of the amazing people who are part of our Loyobo FIT family. We think it is important to share their stories to help inspire others and to celebrate their amazing accomplishments!

This month that member is Alyssa Green, who is one of VIP members and one of the most enthusiastic members of our community. Our entire team is so impressed with Alyssa’s consistency when it comes to attending classes, her effort to alway try and improve, set new goals, and learn new things! We also love how supportive she is of other members in their journeys.

This month, ALYSSA, we celebrate YOU! We are so grateful to know you. Thank you for being a part of our family and for sharing your story with us!


How long have you been coming to Loyobo FIT and what initially inspired you to try a class?

I have been attending Loyobo Fit classes since December 2019. My friend nominated me for an Instagram giveaway for Loyobo’s 10-class pass and then I was hooked! I love the atmosphere of this small gym and seeing all the friendly faces who are cheering you on in studio and on the computer screen. One thing I noticed that sets Loyobo Fit apart from other gyms; we always do introductions at the beginning of class. It makes such a big difference when you’re new and makes you feel more comfortable and welcomed.

What are your top 3 health and fitness goals?

1. Maintain a consistent routine

2. Strength

3. Flexibility

What is one of the challenges that you have faced in your health/fitness journey? What have you found most helpful in working to overcome it?

I think the biggest challenge to my fitness journey was finding the motivation to just start! I cannot tell you how many other gyms I’ve joined in the past to just not go… At Loyobo Fit, you have people checking in on you to make sure you’re comfortable, friendly faces in every class, and if you’re really pressed for time there are short classes which are only 15 to 30 minutes. The class tracking and bracelet program is really motivating and rewarding. I love seeing how many classes I’ve completed and how close I am to the next level – 200 classes here I come!

What was your life like before you started at Loyobo FIT? How did you feel about your body?

I have always been active and into sports but when I joined Loyobo Fit right after graduate school I was not feeling very confident. Lots of work and little movement meant gaining way more the the “freshmen 15”. I think the biggest shift for me since joining Loyobo FIT has been working towards a positive mindset and learning to appreciate my body. Appreciating it for all it can do and letting go of negative self-talk (it’s a work in progress!)

What has changed since you joined the Loyobo Family and started coming to class regularly?

So many things! I am happier, stronger and more confident. I am working towards my health and fitness goals, and maintaining a consistent routine of 4-5 classes per week. Loyobo Fit has definitely given me a routine, which was a saving grace during the pandemic lockdowns.

What is your favorite memory or achievement of your time at Loyobo FIT?

My favourite memory was definitely doing the ’12 Days of Christmas’ workout… it was so fun! I even did it on Christmas Eve! As for achievements, I’m really looking forward to getting my 200 class bracelet – less than 10 classes to go!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their health and fitness journey?

To just show up… any movement is good movement. This was my problem too, so I understand how nerve-wracking joining a new gyn or doing a new class can be. Show up and give yourself a little grace. As Courtney would say, you can do the hard things!

What is your favorite class and why?

My favourite in -studio class is Tone & Flex but the quick 30-minute HIIT and Sculpt & Sweat classes have been my go-to since working out at home! They are perfect if you’re short on time… or motivation. If we’re venturing outdoors, I have been loving Outdoor Run/Walk Club and LoYoga!

What is your favorite snack?

My favourite snacks are popcorn and an apple with peanut butter and chocolate chips!

Anything else you would like to share?

Thank you Loyobo Fit for giving us all a safe space to enjoy movement! I can always count on the Loyobo team for a good sweat and a good laugh.
